The Opportunity at Komodo Health

The MapAI team at Komodo is using cutting-edge generative AI to build a better way to get data-driven insights about healthcare.  We are an integral part of Komodo’s platform working on the most comprehensive data about what actually happens in US healthcare.

Answering healthcare questions in a high-quality manner using the best data is a complex undertaking, requiring significant technical and domain expertise.  Generative AI offers a path to do this automatically and efficiently, but engineering and fine-tuning AI systems is itself a challenge.  Our team tackles this problem head-on, with the goal of better enabling our customers to find the insights they need and to reduce the global burden of disease.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

  • Owned the development of key functionality enabling MapAI to address critical (and currently unmet) user needs 
  • Automated the fine-tuning and serving of the different generative AI models supporting our AI engines
  • Instrumented our AI engines so that we can constantly learn and understand how we can improve them
  • Proposed new designs and ideas for creatively finding ways around seeming obstacles to a high-quality user experience
  • Learned about healthcare data and how to use generative AI to solve critical problems for Komodo’s users

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Continual contributions to the MapAI production codebase, including reviews of your colleagues’ code
  • Close partnership with Product Management in defining and realizing the best achievable user experience
  • Regular team syncs about our machine learning lifecycle approach, including generating and constructively critiquing new ideas
  • Continually evaluating new technologies and innovations that can be incorporated into our solution
  • Collaboration with other Platform and Application Engineering teams when opportunities to jointly tackle problems arise
  • Documenting your work to a high-standard, and rigorously ensuring quality of everything that is released

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • 5 years of experience with machine learning in production, including ML Ops
  • Experience with fine-tuning foundation LLMs using Python
  • Experience of ML Ops leveraging MLLC automation frameworks like MLflow
  • Experience in Cloud Data Platform infrastructure deployment and automation using Databricks or AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Knowledge of best practices for data privacy in the context of machine learning

Additional skills and experience we’ll prioritize…

  • Rapid adoption of new frameworks and technologies, especially in the context of large language models
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with international teams (good conversational English level required)
  • Experience with and interest in healthcare and health data

Where You’ll Work

Komodo Health has a hybrid work model; we recognize the power of choice and importance of flexibility for the well-being of both our company and our individual Dragons. Roles may be completely remote based anywhere in the country listed, remote but based in a specific region, or local (commuting distance) to one of our hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Chicago with remote work options.
