Essential Functions

This role is for a Lead Data Engineer – Cloud, with a strong development background, whose primary objective will be to extend our AI as a Service platform to the Public Cloud while enhancing, optimizing our existing codebase and development procedures, as well as developing new solutions. We are seeking for a strong tech leader and cloud architect with a solid background in public cloud and AI/ML production systems. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of hands-on technical knowledge and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and drive the team towards achieving our technical objectives. They should be hands-on, knowledgeable about cloud technologies, business drivers, and emerging AI/ML trends, and experienced with AWS and GCP services. The role demands a proactive leader who can guide the team through uncertainty, educate stakeholders, and influence decisions. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage complex projects and deadlines. A problem-solving mindset and a hands-on approach are key to succeeding in this role..

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of demonstrated ability in leading and mentoring development teams.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in building and delivering robust and scalable solutions on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, preferably in a large-scale AI/ML production environment, with AI/ML model engineering experience.
• Expertise in cloud architecture and cloud service offerings such as compute, storage, databases, networking, AI, and machine learning, with expertise in AWS EKS, ElasticCache, and CloudWatch.
• Experience in Cloud Big Data Services and Cloud AI/ML Solutions such as: AWS Sagemaker, Comprehend, and GCP AutoML or experience with Ray framework.
• Expertise in one or more of the following: Python, Golang, Java, Rust, and/or C/C++.
• Knowledge of successful design and development of data driven real time and batch systems.
• Deep understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of different design, architectural, and integration patterns and strong system design skills.
• Strong cloud security and standard processes for cloud infrastructure management.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 161,300.00 to 209,700.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
