Role Overview Mytra’s Systems Integration & Test team is looking for an experienced hardware test engineer to instrument, test and validate mechanical systems. As a hardware test engineer, you will be responsible for high-level, requirements-based validation of Mytra’s robotics products. This will include developing test plans, building test fixtures, integrating sensors, and analyzing data. This role is on-site full time at our South San Francisco location.
Things you'll do
Owning shock and vibration testing for a full robot system. Instrument prototype robots with accelerometers to gather real-world data. Develop test profiles from that data, and commission an external testing lab to validate new prototypes.
Develop and integrate a long-term accelerated lifetime test for a robot gearbox. Design a mechanical fixture, automate the test, and perform routine analyses for wear & failure.
Evaluate and interpret hardware requirements, and devise test roadmaps to provide complete validation coverage.
Perform full-stack debug and failure analyses of devices under test. Query logs, interpret sensor data, inspect hardware, and effectively collaborate with specialist engineers on domain-specific deep dives.
Qualifications
At least 4 years of experience testing and validating electro-mechanical hardware.
Familiarity with standard hardware test instrumentation, such as accelerometers, force sensors, strain gauges, and capturing useful data with DAQ systems.
Strong hands-on aptitude, with the ability to physically build, debug, and rework mechanical systems.
Understanding of the fundamental physics related to vibration, environmental, and reliability testing.
The ability to design mechanical fixtures, sensor setups, test environments, and other prototype devices using 3D CAD.
Programming skills in a scripting environment (Python preferred) to develop test automation and data analysis.
Interest in working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
The ability to convey complex ideas and technical concepts to a diverse audience.
A Final Note You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives. About Mytra We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.
