The Opportunity

The Director of Generative AI Engineering leads Machine Learning (ML) engineering work in developing innovative Generative AI solutions in collaboration with data science and IT teams! Leading a ML engineering team, the Director’s primary responsibility is to build Generative AI solutions with sound architecture, effective MLOps/LLMOps processes and comprehensive controls. As a member of the leadership team of the Office of Global Chief Data Scientist, the Director works closely with and receives support from data scientists, data engineers, data architects, platform engineers and business leaders. The Director serves as a bridge between data science and technology teams! 


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of ML Engineers, in collaboration with Data Scientists, to develop and implement generative AI solutions to solve complex business problems and deliver business value.
  • Collaborate with architects and platform engineers in building a high-performance environment where data scientists and engineers develop GenAI solutions in a timely manner and deploy them efficiently.
  • Serve as a key member of the solution design group to clearly define technical solutions, project requirements, deliverables and project timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and problem-solving support to project teams to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI technologies and methodologies, and evaluate their potential applications to improve our AI engineering processes.
  • Drive the adoption of ML Ops practices within the GenAI engineering team, ensuring efficient and reliable deployment of GenAI solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the GenAI engineering team.

What we are looking for

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of ML engineers, recruiting, developing and mentoring talent.
  • Experience in implementing and productionizing ML projects end-to-end including MLOps and Model Marketplaces.
  • Experience with leading GenAI/ ML Solution Pods for production ready AI applications.
  • Experience with scaled up release management for AI applications.
  • Experience with building microservice based architecture for GenAI solutions.
  • Experience in working with large-scale data sources in complex environments, and implementing scalable and efficient data processing pipelines.
  • Expert knowledge in cloud platforms, especially Azure, in the context of GenAI solution development and deployment, and common tools in data science.
  • Solid understanding of generative AI models and algorithms, and their applications in solving complex business problems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-functional teams and partners.
  • Highly motivated and result driven.
  • Comfortable in handling changes and delivering results in complex situations.

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between

$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD
