Job Description

Are you a Director of Data Engineering with a desire to make an impact and steer one of H&M’s most crucial sectors? If you are ready to take a pivotal role in shaping the future of retail, we have the perfect role for you.  

As the Area Lead for Data Engineering within our Supply Chain & Enterprise division, you will have considerable influence across the entire organization. Your role will be central to our company-wide programs, directly impacting a key area of H&M. You will engage with a multitude of stakeholders, fostering strong relationships that are the cornerstone of our collaborative culture. Your goal is to embody the principles of servant leadership, where a significant portion of your role will be dedicated to people management. The supply chain is the heart of H&M, and your leadership will ensure its rhythm is strong and steady.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Engineering Managers, providing strategic guidance, setting performance goals, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the strategic direction, aligning it with business goals and customer needs 

  • Define high level KPIs and targets for the area  

  • Driving program enhancements and optimizing delivery outcomes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field 

  • At least 8 years of experience within Data Engineering or similar areas

  • A background in supply chain is highly beneficial  

  • Proven experience in leadership roles within data engineering. Preferably experience in leading managers.  

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)  

  • Familiarity with cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure) and data warehousing solutions 

  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills
