Job Description

Legal and General’s Group Functions are looking to add a Data Scientist to the team to deliver on Machine Learning projects across the organisation. Acting as an internal consultancy the team works to provide advanced data science capabilities across a myriad of teams to provide more insight and better prediction for areas such as customer behaviour prediction, finance and investment management and people analytics.


You will be working on end to end machine learning solutions, both supervised and unsupervised depending on the project while partnering with the devops team to productionise solutions while working closely with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and work together to conceptualise solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and delivering Data Science solutions, working with a variety of data sources, to better inform business decision making, enhancing customer experience and creating a competitive edge.
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders, communicating with stakeholders in a non-technical manner, providing advice, understanding and insight to improve the utilisation of Data Science within the organisation.
  • Identifying, sourcing, and engineering data to support Data Science activity. Ensuring data is of sufficient quality and completeness and conduct exploratory data analysis. Utilising findings to prepare data for Data Science activities.
  • Visualising model results, analytical outputs and project deliverables to a high standard through the use of best practice.
  • Working with other data professionals and business stakeholders to automate and productionise Data Science solutions through the use of appropriate code and automation tooling.
  • Ensuring all work is fully documented and quality assurance is undertaken (via peer review) to verify the accuracy of all deliverables.
  • Providing Data Science SME support on any data processes or initiatives,  with respect to delivering improvements to customer support and experience.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in dealing which high volumes of data with excellent attention to detail and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of Machine Learning techniques.
  • Performing data manipulation and transformation to create datasets and engineering features for Machine Learning activity.
  • Automating analysis and applying model pipelines.
  • Gathering requirements from stakeholders, managing expectations and guiding on approach.
  • Experience with coding languages for Machine Learning model development such as Python or R.
  • Experience with SQL for data manipulation.
