Role Overview

This position is on the Data Science & AI Solutions team at HP and is focused on pioneering and incubating new products and services utilizing AI.  As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for developing the vision, roadmap, and definition of these products to rapidly prove or disprove the commercial viability of new concepts through development of initial prototypes. The ideal candidate will exhibit robust technical proficiency in AI tools and workflows, possess a blend of tactical and strategic abilities, and have an entrepreneurial mindset capable of identifying new opportunities in the market.

This position is located in Fort Collins, Colorado; Palo Alto, CA; or Houston, TX.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and customer needs relating to AI.
  • Develop incubation process to rapidly intake, develop and test different product concepts from ideation to initial prototyping.
  • Define and articulate a clear product vision for each product concept aligned with the company's overall strategic goals.
  • Display strong business acumen to quickly identify and validate potential product viability within rapidly evolving AI technology space.
  • Lead the ideation, definition, and development of new concepts that utilize AI to solve complex problems and meet customer needs.
  • Communicate feature prioritization, timelines, and acceptance criteria to agile engineering teams focusing on rapid concept prototyping and validation.
  • Work with product design to rapidly create wireframes and prototypes to test and validate different product concepts aligned with the product vision directly with potential customers.
  • Support product marketing to develop and test initial concept positioning and messaging.
  • Define and track key performance metrics and success criteria to evaluate desirability of different product concepts and inform future product ideation.
  • Present regularly to senior leadership on status of incubation products and make recommendations to advance, pivot or discontinue different product concepts.
  • For products that graduate incubation process, support transition of product to commercialization team

Experience knowledge & skills

  • We are seeking an ex-founder or experienced product manager with significant track record working on new product development within startup environments.
  • Must possess founder's mentality with ability to develop, communicate, and execute on clear product vision.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in software product management, with a focus on Data Science or AI Technologies required (Must be able to share product Portfolio).
  • Prior experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning, LLMs or Generative AI solutions.
  • Experience using R, Python, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse teams and articulate ideas at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Prior experience with agile development methodologies and project management processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.
  • MBA and/or Advanced degrees in AI-related fields are highly preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $130,000.00 -- $170,000.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
