As the VP of Applied Science you will be joining an innovative generative AI startup changing the future of filmmaking. The VP of Applied Science will report to the Chief Researcher, working closely with Science, VFX, Production, and Product teams. As VP of Applied Science, you will be responsible for leading the Applied Science and Data Performance teams focused on delivering complex production level solutions in 3D Vision, Neural Rendering and Audio Driven Facial Animation. These teams are impacting the delivery for localization and foreign language dubbing solutions across feature films, episodic series, and commercial content. The VP of Applied Science must be a forward thinking, and solutions oriented leader and will be responsible for the conceptualization and production of generative AI editing solutions to our global clients. Critical to this role is having the ability to lead scientists and engineers with extensive technical and understanding of our team domains and we we integrate with Product, Engineering and the Production Studio. Excellent time-management skills, deep knowledge of the latest trends in immersive production, and experience in managing multiple projects in high volume on a global scale is imperative.  As an Executive Leader, clear, concise, and constant communication is paramount to the success of our production ability.  This leader must have the experience and ability to coach, mentor and lead teams and science leaders in their org. As VP of Applied Science, this person must be able to work effectively and efficiently with our cross-functional teams in both the US and UK locations. This position reports to the Chief Researcher, and works closely with other key production executives, creatives, and Science Leaders.

Qualifications

  • 10+ Years of leadership, managing teams of 10+ Scientists.
  • 15+ years experience in applied/research science or engineering
  • Completed MS in Visual Computing, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, 3D Vision, or related field industry or research experience with deep learning and computer vision
  • Extensive experience with Python/Pytorch
  • Familiar with linear algebra, and numerical optimization
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS
  • Experience in various generative models for image face synthesis and reconstruction
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning and modern 2D and 3D Vision.
  • Proficiency in applied research tasks: Maintaining and versioning production code and datasets.
  • Creating metrics and benchmarkingImproving the efficiency of the solutions for teams with various domain expertise
  • Ability to conduct proactive and independent applied research beyond expectations
  • Experience with CV tools e.g. OpenCV, scikit,  numpy, etc
  • Experience with differentiable rendering pipelines, such as PyTorch3D, or Taichi Graphics.
  • Familiar with 3DMM and statistical models
  • Experience with developing machine and deep learning approaches as well as modern 2D and 3D Vision tools.
  • Experience working in collaborative teams comprised of researchers, applied scientists, and platform developers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead Author and Manager for several published work in top-tier CV and Graphics conferences e.g. ICCV, CVPR, Siggraph, NeurIPS
  • Experience developing tools or solutions at scale for multi-modal or audio-driven visual systems in AR/VR or VFX
  • Experience with C++ or CUDA
  • Familiarity with Transformer, CNN, GAN architectures
  • Knowledge in Diffusion models and NerFs
