We partner with teams across the organization to advance our corporate priorities, support innovation and ultimately deliver on our promise to safeguard our customers' privacy and to earn and maintain their trust.  As the Technology Architect, Responsible AI, reporting to the Director of Data Ethics, you will work with a cross-functional group focused on enabling a framework for responsible use of artificial intelligence (Ai) and guide the development of AI, data-driven products and services in accordance with ethical principles. 

You will be a champion for responsible AI across the organization and you will advocate for TELUS’ Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all of our decisions around data, recognizing how critical customer and team member trust is to TELUS’ mission.  Your commitment to responsible AI will support our business needs as well as our position on social capitalism as we seek opportunities to innovate with data.  This will help our business to implement AI solutions that not only perform well, but also operate ethically and responsibly, benefiting society as a whole.

What you’ll do


●    Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI solutions in accordance with the TELUS’ Trust Model and data ethics framework.
●    Advising on how responsible AI can serve as an enabler for business program operations and assist with the deployment of responsible AI across the organization.
●    Developing and implementing testing and validation protocols to ensure AI systems are working as intended.
●    Conducting research and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in AI ethics and responsible AI practices.
●    Supporting the development of a TELUS’ framework for responsible AI in line with emerging leading practices.
●    Integrating responsible AI into processes to support agile development methodology.
●    Educating and advising business units on existing or new techniques, and providing innovative strategies and creative solutions to implement responsible AI.
●    Participating in industry-wide efforts to advance responsible AI practices and standards.

What you bring 


●    Demonstrated track record of providing subject matter expertise embedding responsible AI into product and services while delivering on measurable outcomes in a highly complex stakeholder environment. 
●    Demonstrated working knowledge or understanding of responsible AI fundamentals  (e.g. differential privacy, federated learning, adversarial testing, algorithmic fairness etc.) and machine learning pipelines.
●    Familiarity with statistics, algorithms, and machine learning tools to analyze and evaluate fair and ethical AI, including generative AI.
●    Passionate about responsible AI and the imperative to use data to solve big and small problems.
●    Keen to explore new and creative solutions to change the trajectory of persistent challenges and motivated to bring those solutions to life.
●    Appreciated for your excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, and your ability to distill complex and/or ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements.
●    Known for your ability to influence and negotiate effectively, to be a persuasive advocate, and known for your conflict resolution skills with a focus on win-win solutions.
●    Sought out for excellent communication skills, verbal & written, with the ability to present information at all levels of the organization and leadership forums.
●    3-5 years experience in responsible AI and/or AI Ethics 
●    Post-secondary degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, ethics, or related field of study.

Great-to-haves


●    Experience with the development, design, and architecture of IT technology, data management, and data integration processes.
●    Experience with design for software applications running on multiple platforms.
●    Experience with web architecture and the privacy and security model of the web.
●    Bilingual in French & English, verbal and/or written.
●    Certification in Privacy (e.g., CDPSE, CIPT, CIPM, CIPP certification).
