The Group for Applied Machine Learning at the Department for Artificial Intelligence at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin is looking for a student assistant to strengthen its scientific activities and to develop innovative solutions, especially in the context of interdisciplinary collaborations. What you will do
Applied science in exciting projects
Design, execute and document machine learning experiments
Testing the latest deep learning architectures and methods
Analysis and visualization of large amounts of different data (e.g. from medicine or climate research)
Review of relevant literature and data
Preparation of texts and presentations
What you bring to the table
You are currently studying computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, statistics or a related field of study with good to very good grades
Programming skills in Python
Good to very good theoretical and practical (e.g. PyTorch) knowledge of deep learning
Independent, structured and precise way of working (e.g. when implementing, testing and documenting algorithms)
Interest in topics such as e.g. AI in biomedicine, AI application to climate data (nowcasting, super-resolution), and/or generative AI (e.g. with diffusion models)
Since we are interested in long-term cooperation, you should be enrolled for at least one more year. Ideally, you are at the beginning of your master's degree.
You live in Berlin or Brandenburg

The position is initially limited to 6 months. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
