Innovations for the digital society of tomorrow are the focus of research and development work at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, HHI. The Fraunhofer HHI is a world leader in research into mobile and optical communication networks and systems, as well as the coding of video signals and data processing. We are looking for student assistants for the research group "Immersive Media & Communication" in the department "Vision & Imaging Technologies (VIT)". In our national and European research projects, we develop new computer vision methods for 3D video processing, 3D scene reconstruction and analysis for digital and immersive media as well as medical technology and industrial applications. What you will do
Research and development of innovative algorithms, methods and systems in the field of 3D video processing and computer vision with application in AR/VR
Research on novel deep learning methods for acquisition, analysis and visualisation of real scenes, objects and persons
Contribution to national and European research projects
What you bring to the table
Above average scientific degree (e.g. master’s degree) in computer science, mathematics, telecommunications, electrical engineering, or a related field
Creativity and interest in new technologies and scientific work
A team player mentality combined with analytical skills and the ability to handle responsibilities in an interdisciplinary work environment
Strong programming skills (Python, C++, CUDA, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Matlab)
Good knowledge in the fields of Computer Vision and Machine Learning is advantageous
Strong verbal and written English skills
Presence in Berlin as we expect working at the institute

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
