This role is responsible for ensuring that compute resources are properly allocated based on product, sales and research priorities, while also leading strategic initiatives to optimize GPU utilization and procurement. The Mosaic AI team at Databricks is seeking a talented Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong background in resource management, forecasting, capacity and strategic planning to join our team. 

The impact you will have:

  • Drive innovation and deliver high-quality products by ensuring that AI teams have the necessary GPU and resources.
  • Improve product margins by leading strategic initiatives to optimize GPU utilization and procurement.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and customers, including regular project updates, status reports, and presentations.
  • Deliver step-level improvements with compute management, efficiency and scalability by identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure strategic alignment across C-level leadership 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic initiatives to optimize GPU utilization and procurement, including financial analysis and legal considerations
  • Develop and implement a GPU resource allocation strategy that aligns with revenue and research priorities.
  • Build and maintain compute resource analytics and reporting. 
  • Collaborate with finance, sales, research, engineering, product management, and other teams to define, plan, and deliver on our AI initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives, to secure GPU resources and drive strategic AI initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest GPU technology trends and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in our products and services.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including regular project updates, status reports, and presentations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products by driving project execution and managing risks.

What we look for:

  • 7+ years of technical program management experience, with a focus on cross team negotiations, resource management, customer impact and strategic planning. 
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical projects on time and with high quality.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to get to resolution with C-level executives and identify key tradeoffs between business objectives using data.
  • Ability to build and maintain analytics to track, forecast, and visualize consumption through ad-hoc SQL, reports, and dashboards   
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Preferred good working knowledge of GPU technology and its applications in generative AI and machine learning.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow is a plus.
  • Experience with compute capacity management, as well as financial analysis or sales/deal desk quoting, is a plus.

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
