The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.
About the Team
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to help Nuro deliver complex and strategic multi-functional engineering projects.
The Data Platform provides end-to-end data management at Nuro, from data acquisition to data consumption and visualization. We build software and tools to offload large amounts of raw autonomy data in batches, transform data for different use cases, and visualize key company metrics; we build a centralized metadata store to facilitate autonomy development and validation, providing important datasets that are critical to downstream applications; we develop interactive dashboards for users to consume our core autonomy data and make rapid progress to put the vehicles on public road.
About the Work
- Design, develop, and scale batch log offloading for R&D and production fleet operations
- Provide centralized robotics data management, services, tools, and APIs for data-intensive autonomy and product applications
- Manage end-to-end data generation & consumption from onboard bots to offboard applications, and define best practices and metrics for data ingestion, ETL, and processing
- Design and develop unified, introspectable, large-scale batch and streaming data processing systems that can ingest and process data across a wide range of use cases relevant to Autonomy development
- Develop continuous testing and validation systems to ensure the robustness of our data and data architectures
About the Role
E2E Program Ownership
- Drive cross functional collaboration between Engineering, Systems & Operations groups to drive the most critical Company Level Program OKRs
- Collaborate proactively with stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve impediments, and manage risks.
- Work with stakeholders to clarify requirements & expectations as needed by eng teams.
- Adeptly leverage project management tools and techniques based on the complexity and urgency of the program. Requires solid background Agile methodologies and standard 3rd party tools such as Atlassian/JIRA
Clear communications to leadership and engineering teams
- Deliver consistent updates to the engineering teams, leadership, and stakeholders about program progress, timeline adjustments, and priority shifts.
- Employ data-driven insights for leadership decisions and adeptly adapt to fluctuating circumstances.
- Ensure engineering teams are fully synchronized with up-to-date timelines and priorities.
- Translate & present technical information to nontechnical audiences
Technical depth
- Proficient in using analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and align on effective solutions.
- Showcase knowledge & experience with the software development process and possess basic technical expertise to ramp up quickly in high-risk technical areas
- History of engaging with stakeholders, comprehending their needs, and ensuring that deliverables consistently meet or exceed expectations.
Leadership
- Help coach more junior team members to become more effective in their roles
- Instill and demonstrate a growth and ownership mindset
About You
- 10 years of total working experience, 5+ years of experience working with large-scale data and building scalable & reliable systems/data pipelines; ability to understand and design complex systems preferably in the autonomous vehicle, robotics, aerospace, medical device, or automotive industry.
- Experience setting team or project product and technical vision, timelines, and prioritization
- Excellent communication skills, and an ability to build relationships and foster cross-functional collaboration between people and teams.
- Mastery of project management tools and Agile methodologies.
- Start-up DNA: you thrive in a fast-paced environment with high ambiguity and competing priorities.

- Able to pivot quickly & work on the fly without losing sight of the big picture
- Need to be fearless in standing up and asking for what is needed, can’t be intimidated to fight for resources or revamp broken processes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering, and/or equivalent technical experience or aptitude.
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $152,000 and $228,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
