Performs accurate and precise performance of all Laboratory protocols in the assigned Laboratory sections for all shifts.

  • Ensures operation of analyzers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Runs daily quality control checks and performs College of American Pathologists (CAP) Proficiency testing as required.
  • Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Provides a healthy and safe working environment by maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory and practising preventive measures.
  • Performs routine laboratory testing as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Communicates critical, urgent, and abnormal results with ordering physicians.
  • Communicates with nurses and physicians on patient preparation, sample collection and integrity.
  • Prioritizes workload in an efficient productive manner.
  • Assists in maintaining College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations.
  • Promotes ethical practices and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Participates in the lab monthly focus group.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Serves as the quality link for assigned section(s).

Quality Link Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with the Laboratory’s Quality team regularly to discuss quality issues and concerns.
  • Reviews daily Quality Checks (QC) and investigates violations and biases, as required.
  • Reviews Proficiency Testing evaluations and performs investigations as required.
  • Investigates incidents and complaints related to assigned section(s).
  • Assists with tabulating monthly statistics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and workload data.
  • Assists the Section Supervisors in performing Method Evaluation, Validation and Set-up.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field
  • Current/Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and general computer applications preferred.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
