The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Our approximately 1,400 employees work towards a sustainable, economical, safe and socially just energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute to this with our research focus on energy supply, energy distribution, energy storage and energy use. We are shaping the sustainable transformation of the energy system through outstanding research results, successful industrial projects, company spin-offs and global cooperation.
Would you like to play an active role in shaping the energy transition and get to know and develop innovative AI models as part of your thesis? With us you will find the experts and the environment to realize these goals.
Working on the thesis "Development of AI models for the quality inspection of solar cells" you will implement deep learning models based on imaging measurements for solar cell characterization.
At the end of the thesis, there should be a method that enables a meaningful description of the solar cell and can be used in solar cell production. For this purpose, you will get to know novel measurement systems and will be able to collect the necessary data in our laboratory. The "Image Processing and Machine Learning" team has AI competencies. We have a powerful IT and laboratory infrastructure with the latest characterization technologies at our disposal, which allows for extensive data collection and unique research opportunities.
For our "Image Processing and Machine Learning" group, we are looking for a student assistant with the opportunity to write a Master's thesis at the earliest possible date.
