Manager of Resuscitation and Ambulance Services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assesses the education needs of staff related to Resuscitation training and assists in providing education programs for staff in coordination with unit managers and hospital management.
  • Assists the Clinical Education department in coordinating education activities and actively participates in and collaborates with education programs delivered by the Clinical Education department.
  • Teaches, supports, coaches,and mentors clinical staff to promote evidence-based resuscitation practice, knowledge, skills, and professional development.
  • Liaises with hospital departments in monitoring standards of care relating to resuscitation standards. Reviews appropriate policies,procedures, and updates according to evidence-based best practices.
  • Participates in and leads departmental/hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Participates hospital-wide and clinical committees as required.
  • Integrates evidence-based research/practice into clinical and management

 processes within the clinical area.

  • Promotes continuous performance improvement in daily operations.
  • Investigates all incidents and customer complaints thoroughly.
  • Participates in collecting and reviewing data to enhance services within the department and makes recommendations to modify the department's clinical practice based on Quality Improvement (QI) findings.
  • Completes Code Blue/Pink reviews on Safe point.
  • Ensures efficient functioning of all related medical equipment in the clinical areas through communication and collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
  • Supports, enforces, and interprets institutional and departmental policies and procedures to staff.
  • Performs additional duties as required as per the scope of service.
  • Liaises with and updates Physicians and multidisciplinary teams related to AHA guidelines updates.
  • Takes part in Clinical Orientation/Resuscitation Orientation to orient new clinical staff related to Basic Life Support (BLS), Code Blue policy, and Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI).
  • Assesses staff's Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills and provides additional Training as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation following established standards.
  • Coordinates and regularly reviews Crash Carts as per American Hospital Dubai standards.
  • Provides input in selecting Quality Measures related to Resuscitation and Life Support Training and collects and analyses data accordingly.
  • Acts as a resource to American Hospital Dubai leadership regarding Resuscitation standards and Ambulance services.
  • Develops a close working relationship with clinical staff to promotes consistent and collaborative approach in Resuscitation Management.
  • Maintains current knowledge of recent advances in Resuscitation and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) based on international and local protocols, always promoting evidence-based practice—Disseminates information as required.
  • Supports cardiac arrest teams and assists the resuscitation Team Leader and other caregivers with treatment recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma/ Certification from an accredited College of Paramedics/EMS College in the country of origin and/or country of professional practice or Licensed Physician or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor Certification
  • Licensed with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services(DCAS) as an Advanced Life Support Instructor
  • American Heart Association (AHA)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support for Experienced Providers (ACLS-EP) Instructor Certification preferred
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor preferred
  • Licensed in the country of citizenship or professional practice
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the related field with five (5) years of progressive leadership and management experience in a healthcare setting
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an American Heart Association (AHA) instructor
  • American Heart Association (AHA)Regional Faculty (RF)/Training Center Faculty (TCF)
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA)
  • Knowledge of computer programs/applications (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Skills in problem-solving/critical thinking
  • Skills in teaching and managing programs
  • Previous Middle Eastern experience preferred
