Our Data Architect opportunity requires skills in design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the data layer. This role will require working with a wide variety of clients to deliver professional services and manage business development activities.

Your key responsibilities

You’ll spend most of your time working with client(s) to deliver the latest data focused technologies and practices to design, build and maintain scalable and robust solutions that unify, enrich, and analyze data from multiple sources.

Also included:

  • Foster relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels; Consistently deliver quality client services.
  • Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk, and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery; Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
  • Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Demonstrate ability to assimilate new knowledge; Remain current on new developments in advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge.
  • Assist in the strategy and implementation of Data Governance and Knowledge Management.
  • Design and create ontology models to represent data objects, attributes, relationships, and semantics, promoting efficient data integration.
  • Play a key role in implementing a data mesh architecture, ensuring easier access to data, improved scalability and flexibility
  • Oversee the migration of data pipelines from legacy systems to the new platform, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data
  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models to ensure data consistency and structure throughout the organization.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience designing and managing data architecture and ontologies including defining concepts, properties and relationships for data integration, data mining, and text analysis purposes
  • Experience in ontology development, semantic web technologies, and data modeling
  • Experience integrating disparate data sources using ontology as a framework
  • Collaborate and consult with project managers, developers, data engineers, or and users to ensure common understanding and get buy-in for approach
  • Experience testing and validating to data architecture and ontology to make sure it is properly implemented and meets expectations of the program
  • Experience supporting business intelligence solutions/applications and experience in managing large data environments
  • Experience in database administration including performance tuning, environment availability, and capacity planning.  Working knowledge of SQL best practices (e.g. schema management, index optimization, etc.)
  • Experience in graph databases for modeling complex interconnected relationships

A successful Data Architect will deliver results through:

  • Business requirements gathering: Ability to discuss and determine business problems with leaders of various functional areas within an organization, and aid in determining the appropriate key performance indicators needing to be captured and monitored.
  • Information strategy enabled through a mix of service focuses including information architecture, information management and information governance-which in turn enables organizations to exploit source systems by ensuring that they provide a trusted, sustainable data stream for accurate and improved business intelligence and analytic applications.
  • Data architecture focused on organizing the underlying data in the most effective manner to   provide the business timely access to information to improve business performance.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 7+ Years of professional related experience
  • DoD or government experience preferred
  • External client delivery and solution knowledge spanning data management, data warehousing and reporting/analytics domains
  • A minimum of 4-years of experience in providing complex consultative services in the following ISM focus areas: information strategy, data architecture, information/data governance, master data management, data quality, data integration
  • Proven track record of understanding business challenges and translating them into value-add solutions- strong analytical and problem-solving skills - actively participate in brainstorming, identifying core issues and effectively finding and using data to manage complex analysis
  • Engagement leadership experience including: managing junior level consulting staff, providing regular status updates, and monitoring project economics and hands on technical expertise as well as managing client relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills

Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Public Sector, work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites. Our goal is to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office.  In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel on average 25% to 30% or more in a hybrid environment.
