Job Summary
The Global AI Government Affairs Manager role is part of the Global Policy & Strategy Team within Government Affairs and Public Policy (GA&PP). Leads company advocacy on AI, as well as other digital policy issues such as cybersecurity, and privacy/data governance. Scope is global in nature, working closely with internal HP subject matter experts and GA&PP colleagues in various geographies to develop company-wide positions and advocacy strategies, and positioning HP’s AI priorities with global government stakeholders.
This role is also responsible for leveraging external networks and domain expertise to develop policy thought leadership and strategy. The role conducts strategic projects, monitors and influences legislation, anticipates political shifts, and leads sophisticated advocacy campaigns. Additionally, the role acts as a functional expert, setting functional policy and direction.
Responsibilities
• Leverages external networks, including government officials and trade associations, to develop policy thought leadership and create allies for advocacy strategies.
• Conducts special projects of strategic importance to the company and executive leadership; ensures all activities are conducted according to standards of business conduct.
• Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence relevant policies, in close consultation with business leadership.
• Monitors changing legislation and consults with subject-matter experts to determine and advance organization’s position.
• Anticipates shifts in political landscapes and proactively recommends adaptive strategies.
• Leads in influencing public policy by executing sophisticated advocacy campaigns.
• Contributes innovative ideas and may lead large cross-functional teams, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.
• Acts as a functional expert within area of expertise, developing strategy and setting functional policy and direction.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to lower-level employees, thus ensuring the realization of operational and strategic plans.
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Law, Public Policy, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in government affairs, public policy, or a related field.
