DIRECTOR OF LABORATORY SERVICES& OUTREACH 

Works under the Chief Medical Officer and together with the Chief of Pathology / Laboratory to develop and maintain a high-quality service,and cost-effective that is responsive to the needs of the medical staff and executes a plan for appropriate growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees development of Quality Management (QM) plan with Lab Leadership and identifies improvement opportunities.
  • Develops a lab-specific dashboard to incorporate elements of American Hospital Dubai's goals of service, quality, growth, cost, and people.
  • Oversees Laboratory Quality Improvement (QI) activities and liaises with the Performance Improvement (PI) Department.
  • Oversight of the development of policies and procedures that pertain to patient safety and transfusion service functions
  • Participates in hospital-wide Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives/committees.
  • Promotes a safe working environment in the Laboratory.
  • Promotes ethical practices and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Oversees Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) requirements for the Laboratory.
  • Evaluates the Laboratory layout and space requirements for maximum efficiency, safety, and standards such as Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the like.
  • Supports Laboratory staff at all levels to maintain morale, a proper working environment, and interaction and delegation of management responsibility to supervisory staff.
  • Oversees the development of policies and procedures consistent with organizational and accreditation guidelines.
  • Formulates a strategic plan for laboratory outreach and marketing of services.
  • Manages and directs the Laboratory cost for testing and appropriate staffing,with bench-marking.
  • Implements and maintains standards for accreditation.
  • Provides input for planning and staffing for Laboratory services in American Hospital Dubai's Clinics.
  • Provides educational and developmental opportunities for staff.
  • Performs all duties and tasks as per the hospital Code of Conduct and in line with the hospital's Vision and Mission.
  • Remains professional at all times and is not involved in any out-of- committee/department discussion regarding policies, data and information obtained within the department and as part of assigned duties.
  • Accepts additional duties,within the scope of practice in periods of higher workload, and needs and as assigned by immediate superior.
  • Maintains regular working hours as per the employee contract.
  • Upholds the hospital values as per the C-I Care Program.
  • Promotes and participates in departmental teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's Degree with Master's Degree in Clinical Pathology/Healthcare Quality or related field or
  • Doctor of Medicine in Clinical Pathology or
  • Doctor of Medicine in Clinical Pathology/Healthcare Quality or related field
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the Laboratory with eight (8) years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Administrative and managerial experience. Prior managerial experience in the laboratory preferred. Evaluation of performance and competencies.
  • Experience in quality improvement methodologies, and implementation of laboratory practice guidelines, protocols and pathways.
  • Development of laboratory and administrative policies and procedures.
