Who is a developer evangelist/advocate?

A developer evangelist is someone who combines deep technical knowledge with strong communication skills to promote and advocate for a technology or software product. They build and nurture relationships within the developer community, provide technical support, and gather feedback to improve the product.

In the DevRev context, this is someone who would work with our platform teams to ensure our development partners can succeed on our platform.

Why does DevRev need an evangelist?

  1. Reduce Engineering Load: Free up the platform team's time currently spent on partner onboarding and snap-in code reviews.
  2. Enhance Dev Education: Improve partner enablement by providing better education on platform APIs, product workings and making developer focussed content
  3. Ensure Architectural Compliance: Ensure partners use the right architecture and follow coding guidelines for creating snap-ins. This becomes essential as snap-ins need to be tested for enterprise customers with a huge load.
  4. Streamline Coordination: Improve cross-team coordination across platform and product teams to unblock snap-in development.
  5. Boost Partner Experience: Enhance the overall partner experience as we scale our marketplace.

Developer evangelist Goals and Responsibilities for FY 25’

  1. Establish the community of DevRev developers through online and offline engagement
  2. Identify, convert and nurture SIs,ISVs who can champion the DevRev platform
  3. Ensure our developers have everything they need to succeed, including a consistent supply of Sample Apps, Tutorials, Blog Posts, Webinars, and engaging Demos
  4. Assist in launching 100 public snap-ins by the end of the year
  5. Ensure availability of Top 25 apps across Zendesk/Freshdesk in DevRev marketplace
