This full-time role may be fully-remote or be based in any one of our KAYAK or OpenTable offices. This exciting role as a member of the KAYAK/OpenTable legal team will involve drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial, procurement/vendor, and real estate agreements, and liaising with internal business team members across the world to understand their needs. The role will also involve advising on commercial, real estate, and certain global regulatory issues that impact the business. An imperative, business-critical aspect of this role requires a technological forward-thinking attorney with an eagerness to embrace, learn, utilize, and champion artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve efficiencies and train/educate the KAYAK/OpenTable legal team on this rapidly evolving technology. This role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and highly efficient individual with good judgment, a strong work ethic, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and great interpersonal skills.
In this role, you will:
Draft, review and negotiate inbound and outbound agreements, including client and partnership commercial agreements, licensing, real estate leases and ancillary documents, vendor agreements (IT, SaaS, services, sales, product), and other agreements
Provide sound and timely advice to business partners regarding legal and other risks and recommending strategic solutions and alternatives
Embrace, learn, apply, and champion AI tools in an in-house legal department
Enable adoption of AI tools to improve efficiencies and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, and security requirements
Lead, coordinate, and improve internal AI usage review processes and educate our team and employees on technical, legal, and regulatory developments
Research and advise on unique legal issues impacting the companies
Conduct thorough review and analysis on various product and features initiatives and craft guidance to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Provide legal counsel on a variety of topics as the need arises

JD from a nationally or internationally-recognized law school
Admission to a State Bar
Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience reviewing complex contracts and working directly with partners throughout an organization including commercial sales, real estate, product, and engineering, preferably within a technology company
Proven track record of building trusted relationships with internal business stakeholders
Humble and egoless team player with a sense of levity and humor
Ability to review, analyze, draft and negotiate complex contractual terms
Strong communication skills, and the ability to communicate and explain complex legal issues to various business partners
Forward-thinking legal technologist passionate about artificial intelligence and its integration within a legal department
Ability to navigate technical details and quickly learn and adopt new technologies
Exceptional facility with spotting issues, assessing and communicating risks, making common-sense decisions in the face of ambiguity, and finding flexible/creative solutions to achieve business goals
Ability to balance multiple matters simultaneously and to respond quickly to shifting priorities under tight deadlines
Highly motivated and resourceful with the ability to work proactively and independently
Excellent judgment, high integrity, and strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a “can-do” attitude
Adaptability and openness to taking on tasks in new or unfamiliar areas of the law
Language skills and/or multijurisdictional experience a plus (but not required)

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this United States located role is $140,000 - $165,000.
In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible for additional compensation and benefits including: annual cash bonus; health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave and benefits.
