Handles Clinical Transformation, training, build and maintenance of Nursing Outpatient/Inpatient (OP/IP) clinical applications and provides end-user support and or helpdesk support, troubleshooting workflow or technology issues related to clinical system use for Surgninet/Firstnet and all ancillary care providers.

Operation and Management Support:

  • Functions as a liaison between clinical end users and the IT technical team, facilitating clear communication and requirements between the two teams.
  • Monitors the iService ticketing reporting system, working collaboratively with IT team members and is responsible for follow-up and closing issues logged about system issues.
  • Responsible for the settings, maintenance, and good understanding of the functionalities within the assigned clinical modules.
  • Demonstrates awareness of end-user access levels within the assigned modules.
  • Keeps the IT leadership informed of all events affecting the installation, upgrade, and changes in setups or workflow that affect the operations of the clinical or administrative environment.
  • Performs clinical software testing and evaluation of patch upgrades or change requests forwarded to vendors.
  • Oversees and ensures proper procedures are followed with the documentation requirements for clinical providers.
  • Handles and ensures proper procedures are followed for decision support tools requested and new procedure build (e.g. alerts, order sets, CPOE).
  • Conducts training of end users in relevant areas of responsibility and maintains updated training materials.
  • Ensures downtime procedures and workflows required are in place.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities for which the individual is qualified as requested by the IT leadership or Clinical leadership.

Implementation and Development:

  • Produces and supports current and future workflows, identifying gaps in future workflow when implementing new functionality or technology.
  • Acts as the key clinical transformation specialist and leads the successful integration and implementation of a safe clinical information system design.
  • Optimizes and improves the use of information systems and communicates possible areas of improvements in workflows using technology and best practise defined.
  • Identifies and communicates to leadership on policy changes required when implementing changes in functionality or technology (IT departmental or hospital policies).
  • Demonstrates awareness of hospital KPI requirements and how the system can support contributing towards its data collection and reporting.
  • Identifies, communicates, and updates any downtime requirements and changes required.
  • Participates in handling or logging Quality Module (QM) incidents and IT tickets.
  • Participates and completes all relevant vendor training and evaluations provided.
  • Participates in projects keeping with timelines and responsibilities defined.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Medical related field or
  • Master's Degree in Health Informatics or Hospital Management
  • Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of informatics experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical practice in the field of clinical expertise.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (Cerner) exposure preferred.
  • Skills in working with clinical information systems and Nursing workflows.
  • Skills in problem-solving and technical curiosity to understand the underlying application architecture.
  • Skills in decision-making as appropriate when evaluating change requests for system improvements and determining the feasibility and advisability of system changes.
  • Skills in communication and interpersonal to effectively interact and work with a diverse workforce at all levels of the organization, system users, management and vendors.
  • Ability to educate and train end users on system workflow, design and proposed changes.
