Mizuho AI Center Of Acceleration team are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Model (LLM) Technical Lead to join our dynamic team.  As a Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development, implementation, and optimization of cutting-edge AI solutions leveraging generative models and LLMs. You will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative AI-driven products and services that address complex business challenges.  This role requires a unique blend of hands-on technical expertise and leadership skills to drive innovation and deliver high-impact solutions, with a particular focus on Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of business solutions using GenAI and LLM’s.
  • Lead multiple execution teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical direction.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members, conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in data science, machine learning, and software development.
  • Champion the adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance team productivity and project outcomes, with an emphasis on GenAI and LLMs.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the integration of GenAI and LLM solutions into production systems, ensuring robustness, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to prioritize and plan data science initiatives.
  • Manage end-to-end data science projects, from ideation to deployment and monitoring, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Track project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or roadblocks to ensure timely and successful delivery.

Technical Execution:

  • Develop and deploy GenAI and LLM solutions to address specific business needs, leveraging state-of-the-art frameworks and techniques.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance in production, making necessary adjustments and improvements.
  • Implement rigorous validation and testing procedures to ensure the quality and reliability of models.
  • Design, implement, and optimize machine learning algorithms and statistical models, ensuring high accuracy, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct thorough data exploration and analysis to understand data patterns, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, natural language processing, and time series analysis.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, ensuring efficient data processing and storage.

Innovation and Strategy:

  • Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, GenAI, and LLM technologies, applying relevant innovations to projects.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new tools, techniques, and data sources to enhance our data science capabilities.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the data science team, aligning with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and professional networks to stay connected with the data science and GenAI community.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Communicate complex technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work closely with other departments, including IT, business units, and external partners, to ensure alignment and integration of data science initiatives.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, research papers, and presentations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive data-driven decision-making and promote the value of data science within the organization.

 Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in AI/ML development
  • Minimum of 18 months experience in designing and implementing GenAi and LLM solutions, with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing data science projects and teams.

 Required Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java
  • In-depth knowledge of GenAI techniques and LLM architecture (e.g., GPT, BERT, T5).
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworksandlibraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Facce).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless technologies.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

 Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

The expected base salary ranges from $105k-$150k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
